In partnership with Midwest Alliance for Mindfulness, the Mindful Tea Meditation was a way to help people address potential stressors. The project involved a grouping of hand thrown tea bowls. The design and form of the bowls corresponded with a word that the meditator contemplated on: forgive, simplify, or connect. Each tea bowl had a wooden coaster with their respective word engraved into its surface. Through the meditation, each person was instructed by mindfulness teacher, Erik Hulse, to examine their bowls. The idea was to appreciate the little things someone might have missed if they were not paying attention, such as color and texture variation, crackles, weight and temperature. After examining the bowl, tea was poured and drunck. Finally, the bowl bearer started to meditate on the word they given.
